General Terms and Conditions
The Water for Life Foundation is an initiative of the drinking water companies Vitens, Evides Waterbedrijf, WML, Waterbedrijf Groningen, PWN and WMD. Together they are committed to supporting drinking water companies in low-income countries via VEI B.V. Thanks to the donations to the Water for Life Foundation, projects are financed that VEI implements, in collaboration with local water companies. Poor and vulnerable people are connected to the water supply network and gain access to drinking water and sanitary facilities.
Customers of Dutch drinking water companies can contribute to this by donating to the Water for Life Foundation. Donations are used for the construction of infrastructure and the organization of training courses to realize access to drinking water and sanitation.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Dutch drinking water companies and VEI, we guarantee quality, use existing processes and ensure that 100% of the donations go to the projects.
General
- The Water for Life Foundation is recognized as a 'Public Benefit Organization' (ANBI) according to article 5b of the General Tax Act.
- The Water for Life Foundation is recognized as a charity by the CBF, the supervisory authority for charities.
- Stichting Water for Life uses the processes and communication tools of VEI BV and the affiliated Dutch drinking water companies as much as possible. The management and administration of donations is also outsourced to VEI BV
Donations via de website
- Private individuals and companies can transfer an amount of their choice using the 'one-off' or 'fixed' donation option in the donation form.
- The payment is processed on behalf of the Water for Life Foundation by VEI BV and, if applicable, by suppliers and organisations that support the business process and with whom a processing agreement has been concluded.
- Under certain conditions, the sponsorship contribution and the donation are tax deductible. More information is available from the Tax Authorities . No VAT is levied on the gift.
- Increasing, decreasing or terminating the contribution to Water for Life is possible via the change form, which can be found at www.waterforlife.nl/donatie-wijzigen. We aim to process your change within 3 weeks.
Private and business drinking water customers of Vitens and Evides Water Company
- Private and business customers of Vitens and Evides Water Company can choose to become a donor via their water bill by:
- Contacting the drinking water company
- By registering via the Water for Life website - Donations via the water bill for individuals are for a fixed amount of €0.05 / €0.10 / €0.15 / €0.30 / €1.00 per day. Over a whole year, the contribution is then respectively approximately €18.25 / €36.50 / €54.75 / €109.50 / €365.00.
- Donations via the water bill for business customers are for a fixed amount of €0.05 / €0.10 / €0.15 / €0.30 / €1.00 per day. Over a full year, the contribution is then approximately €18.25 / €36.50 / €54.75 / €109.50 / €365.00 respectively.
- The calculation of this amount starts on the day that Vitens or Evides Water Company has processed the registration.
- The donation of customers of Vitens and Evides Waterbedrijf is done via the water bill. If this water bill is paid automatically, the contribution to Water for Life is also debited from this water bill. If the water bill of Vitens or Evides Waterbedrijf is paid by payment slip, the amount on the water bill is increased by the contribution to Water for Life.
The donation is tacitly extended annually for one year. - Increasing, decreasing or terminating the contribution to Water for Life is possible via the customer service of the water company concerned. Some processing time must be taken into account.
- Only existing contract partners (persons in whose name the water connection is registered) of Vitens or Evides Water Company can become donors to Water for Life via the water bill.
- Vitens customers can contact the Vitens Customer Service department for confirmation of the donation, telephone 0900 – 0650 (standard call charges).
- Customers of Evides Water Company can contact the Customer Service department of Evides Water Company for confirmation of the donation, telephone 0900 – 0787 (standard call charges).
- In case of relocation within the service areas of Vitens or Evides Waterbedrijf, participation in Water for Life will be continued automatically. In some cases, it may occur that the donation is temporarily collected at two addresses (old and new address) simultaneously as long as the donor has a contract with Vitens or Evides Waterbedrijf at both the old and new address.
- If you move outside the service areas of Vitens or Evides Waterbedrijf, your participation in Water for Life will automatically expire. It is possible to continue supporting the foundation by registering via the website: https://www.waterforlife.nl/help-mee/doneer.
Communication
Communication about the expenditure of resources and the progress of projects can be followed via this website and social media.

Final provisions
- These General Terms and Conditions will enter into force on 31 January 2025. As of that date, the terms and conditions applicable until then will expire.
- These General Terms and Conditions may be cited as 'General Terms and Conditions of the Water for Life Foundation 2025'.
